Due to the unstable situation and possible problems with the event, the Baltictech 2021 conference has been cancelled.

Unfortunately, what we have been guessing for some time now has been officially confirmed by the organisers. The Baltictech conference, which takes place every two years in Gdynia, will not take place this year. It is even more sad, as the Polish conference has a long tradition and is one of the biggest and most popular events dedicated to technical diving in the world.

This decision of the organisers is obviously a result of the still unstable situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Baltictech conference has always taken place in the second half of November, and at the moment we are still not sure what will happen in the autumn and whether we will not witness further restrictions.

As a result, it could turn out that many of the guests invited from abroad would not be able to come to Gdynia. It is also unclear how many people would be able to attend this year’s Baltictech conference and what criteria they would have to meet (vaccinations, tests, etc.).

However, the aforementioned restrictions are not the only problem. After all, the coronavirus pandemic has also hit the implementation of most projects around the world. The lockdown and sanitary restrictions have seriously slowed down or even completely stopped many of the planned activities. In such a situation, an extra year to make up for lost time seems ideal.

The organisers assure that the Baltictech conference will certainly return as soon as it is possible to hold it at the appropriate level known from past years.

Baltictech 2022?

It is not yet known who will appear at the next edition of the Baltictech conference. We also do not know the topics of individual lectures or the names of invited guests. I suppose, however, that the attendance will turn out to be record-breaking, because this prolonged waiting whets the appetite. And we know very well that there are a few lectures in progress extremely interesting projectswhich will certainly be the highlight of the programme.
