A video clip has appeared online, in which we can see a sleeping octopus, which changes its body colour while sleeping. The footage comes from an upcoming PBS documentary “Octopus: Making Contact”, where we will probably see more amazing shots.

As the unusual scene unfolded, marine biologist Dr David Scheel made an amusing comment about what an octopus might be dreaming about, referring to the particular colours its body took on.

“So here she is sleeping, she sees a crab, and her colour starts to change a bit. Then it gets dark. It’s camouflage, like she’s just caught a crab, and now she’s going to sit down and eat it, and she doesn’t want anyone to notice her. It’s really fascinating.” – Dr Scheel commented.

‘Octopus: Making Contact’ premieres October 2, 2019 on PBS.
