Renowned Canadian underwater housing manufacturer Aquatica Digital has just released a new product. The model marked A1D-C/X is a precise and interestingly designed construction, intended for the Canon EOS 1D C and 1DX cameras. The equipment is dedicated for professionals and all divers-photographers who appreciate the highest quality.
The entire “box” was milled from 2 blocks of solid aircraft aluminium, type 6061-T6, which is the current standard guaranteeing adequate strength. Black anodised in the next stage of processing it was covered with electrostatic polyester powder paint. All this to guarantee the best possible quality of workmanship.
The manufacturer has not forgotten about those users who, in addition to photos, are equally interested in recording video sequences. The housing of the Aquatica A1D-C/X has been optimised to bring out the best from the video functions (1D-C: 4K cinematic quality video, 1D-X: 1920×1080 HD). All buttons are easily accessible and should pose no problems in operation.
The on/off button for the video function is ideally positioned and easily accessible on the right-hand side of the housing. You can easily operate it with your thumb by gently sliding it forward. All buttons are made of high quality stainless steel (304 class). Their arrangement is very intuitive and should not cause major problems.
Aquatica’s latest baby has been fitted with a number of safety features to protect our precious equipment. It is equipped with a pressure-sensitive system and a leakage alarm. The whole thing is equipped with a temperature compensator, so its sudden change will not cause any falsification of readings.
The whole thing will arrive in our hands, with very lightweight modelled mounts that have threaded holes for mounting the Aquatica TLC system. Additionally, they are compatible with most flashes and lighting available on the market. An additional mounting point on the top of the housing allows you to mount a spotlight/video or other accessories. A further 3 fixing points on the bottom allow the use of a tripod or brackets.
