According to researchers, the mysterious wreck is most likely a British vessel – the steamer Hannah M. Bell. Subsequent underwater research seems to be bringing the moment of official confirmation of these revelations closer.

The archaeologists have the support of NABSD and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Together they are exploring the remains of the wreck located at a depth of 8m.

Researchers are gathering information about the lost vessels in the press of the time and historical archives. By confronting the results of the underwater search with those from the archives, they will want to establish the name of the wreck by comparing structural details.
