A competition in memory of freediving legend Natalia Molchanova, who tragically died during training in 2015, will be held in Ibiza from 18-23 September. The competition will bring together the elite of world freediving and will be held under AIDA rules.

The elite 16 free divers from 9 countries will compete over 5 days. Among them such greats as Alexei Molchanov, William Trubridge, Michael Board, Alessia Zecchini, Goran Colak, Sayury Kinoshita, Hanako Hirose, Jerald Arnaud and many others.

Molchanovs Grand Prix, is an international competition held in two disciplines: fixed ballast – CWT and fixed ballast without fins – CNF. The total prize pool is €62,000 and there is also a special prize for setting a new world record.

The competition can be followed online using Dive Eye technology. You can follow all the links and the results of the individual competitors, as well as the general classification, on the competition website.

The 53-year-old Molchanova was the most successful athlete in the world. During her career she became a 41-time world record holder and 23-time world champion. Her achievements made her the greatest legend of women’s freediving. Molchanova was also the founder of the Russian Freediving Federation and the author of the Molchanovs training system – the most famous freediving education programme.
