The biggest freediving event of the past week, was definitely the Russian Open Pool Freediving Championships. The event was not only aimed at the competition fought between the best athletes, but also to honour the undisputed legend of the sport – Natalia Molchanova, who died during training in 2015.

An extremely successful performance was recorded by Croatian athlete Mirela Kardasevic. In the dynamic swimming with fins competition – DYNB she reached 208 metres. This allowed her not only to win the competition, but also to set a new AIDA world record! The Croatian certainly could not have imagined a better ending to the competition.

Especially since, as she wrote on her social media profile, she was not in optimal shape due to health problems. However, that did not stop her from setting a world record in the DYNB competition, as well as winning two gold medals. In the DNF competition, where she achieved a result of 161 metres, and DYN – with a result of 225 metres.

Exhausted, but obviously happy, Kardasevic announced that it was now time for rest and recuperation. However, once she is fully recovered, she intends to resume training to be best prepared for the next events.

Open Russian Indoor Championship is over. For this time of the year, I am more than happy with my results and being sick has made it a lot harder to compete but I tried to enjoy my dives as much as I could. 3 days 3 gold medals… 1st day was DNF dive with 161m, 2nd day was DYN bifin with 208m which is now a new AIDA world record, and 3rd day was DYN monofin with 225m. . Now its time to get my health back and then start training again. ???? ___________________________________ #freediving #freediver #molchanovs #bestfreedivegear #underwater #deeperblue #underwaterlife #dream #apnea #music #coldplay #explore #photography #startsomethingpriceless #universe #mermaid #breathhold #competition #ocean #flowstate #flyon #athlete #extreme #swimming #pool #water #LifeIsAWorkout #croatia
