On the pages of our portal we try to present diving from every possible side. Therefore, we often publish materials on diving in interesting, original and often very peculiar places, such as flooded tunnels of the Warsaw underground, quarries, pits and mines. Today we have something special for you! Divingin the system of tunnels connecting the bunkers of Międzyrzecz Fortified System.

This bunker complex is the largest underground fortification system in Europe. It was built by the Germans in 1934-44 to protect the eastern border of the Third Reich, and contains over 100 buildings covering an area of 7000km. After World War II, the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region became part of Poland. The total length of the tunnels in its underground is about 30km!

The plans of the tunnel system vary depending on the date when they were drawn up, which is why they are the subject of much research. One of those investigating the truth is Jerzy Sadowski, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Odkrywca”, who has been trying to clarify the inaccuracies concerning the plans for nearly 30 years. As part of the “Aureus” project, a group of divers was invited to penetrate a part of the underground. You can see the results for yourself thanks to the collected video documentation.
