Mateusz Malina’s start in the DYN competition during the 13th Polish Freediving Championships held in Lublin was extremely successful. Our leading freediver set a new world record with 285 meters! The competition is held in a well-prepared and modern facility, which was opened at the end of 2015.

The result achieved by Mateusz Malina is 4 metres better than the previous world record and as much as 34 metres better than the current Polish record. It’s a great start of the championships for our leading freediver, who will be able to confirm his class in a month’s time, fighting for the highest trophies in Finland, during the World Championships there.

“What a day! Today I set a new AIDA World Record in the dynamic by covering 285 m (4:15 DT) on one breath. Everything happened here in Lublin, during Polish Freediving Pool Championships. I’m very happy, it was a perfect test before the upcoming World Championships in Finland. Now the wall with 3…. at the beginning doesn’t seem so far away anymore.

I beat my old Polish record by 34 m! I would like to thank everyone for their support, especially my official sponsor Grena LTD, Lucyna Kicinska for the perfect organization of the competition and of course my dear Ola.

P.S. Now, for this short time, I hold two AIDA Pool World Records: in dynamic with fins (DYN) and dynamic without fins (DNF). I realise that I could lose them in a day or a month but it feels immensely good and I certainly haven’t said my last word in this sport. I will upload a video of the record attempt when I get home and write more about it.” – this is how Mateusz Malina commented on his Facebook profile

Polish Freediving Pool Championships were organized by Freediving Poland Association and 50 freedivers participated in them. Let’s hope that the experience from previous years and those gained during foreign competitions, combined with a great facility available to the competitors, will allow our representatives to build a high level of form which will translate into the best possible results during the next World Championships.
