Kashubian Diving Base – Tryton in Chmielno

Kashubian Diving Base is situated in Chmielno by Kłodno Lake in the heart of this picturesque region. The place is located about 42 km from Gdańsk, which additionally makes it a good place for a weekend trip from the Tri-City.

The reservoir itself is a trough lake with the total area of 134.9 ha, length of about 2 km and maximum depth of 42 m. The reservoir is connected with Raduñskie Dolny Lake and Ma³e Brodno Lake by narrow isthmuses; the Radunia River also flows through K³odno.

The lodge, belonging to the Tryton Diving Centre from Gdańsk, is located in the recreation centre “Krefta”. It offers accommodation in cottages of various standards, a campsite, sports equipment rental and catering. Access to the diving base is very easy and should not cause anyone major difficulties. The diving base offers a full range of services, from hiring diving equipment and filling air cylinders to diving courses. During the summer season, every weekend training courses for Triton’s customers are organised, both for OWD levels, as well as many specialisation and courses for more advanced divers. The school has a multimedia room where lectures and theoretical classes are held.

An undoubted advantage of this location are the numerous underwater installations, placed there for training purposes. They are located in the shallower part of the lake, where the depth reaches 12 metres. They include, among others, five wooden platforms connected to each other with ropes. While swimming in the area, you can also find tunnels made of wooden cages, a sunken bus and a caisson. During a trip around this underwater training ground, you will come across an interesting and numerous fauna of Kłodno Lake. Apart from shoals of perch, you can spot pike, eel, burbot or crayfish. It is worth to reserve more time for diving in this place, apart from underwater attractions, you can relax and have fun with your family or friends.

Every spring and autumn, the opening and closing events of the diving season take place here. In addition to fun in a large group and traditional diving, the increasingly popular Triton Cup navigation competition also takes place.

A place worth recommending for all those who like to spend a nice time communing with nature, and at the same time want to dive and have fun.
