Karina Kowalska, curator of the Museum of Diving in Warsaw, has been honored by the Historical Diving Society – HDS.

At the annual conference of the Association of Diving History enthusiasts, a Polish popularizer of diving history was awarded ex aequo with a colleague from Germany. For their achievements, Karina Kowalska and Franz Rothbrust will share the Frank Oshman Trophy for the next 12 months.

This is a crystal statuette that HDS awards to individuals who have made significant contributions to the preservation, restoration and use of historic diving equipment. The judges awarded the prize to a replica Klingert suit (K. Kowalska) and a replica Peter Kreeft suit (F. Rothbrust).

At the Historical Diving Society ‘s annual conference, the judges award a total of six prizes. However, it should be emphasized that the awards are given only when a suitable candidate appears. Therefore, it is all the more important to appreciate the award Karina Kowalska received.

Karina Kowalska directs the day-to-day operations of the Museum of Diving in Warsaw. If it were not for her constant efforts, this extremely important institution would certainly cease to exist. With great passion and commitment she restores, discovers and popularizes knowledge about the history of diving in Poland. Following her work, one has to admit that we have a wonderful heritage that should be talked about and, above all, taken care of.

In addition to the work she puts into the operation of the Diving Museum, she is also the author of many books, publications and articles.
