The predator, which weighs about 200-220 kg, is not happy about the violation of its territory and shows its dislike to divers working underwater.

As has been established, the animal has its den near the bridge, in which it lives and which it tries to defend against intruders. Underwater works manager managing the work on the bridge Rudolf Lierke said:

“Divers said that somewhere near the bridge a pit catfish, weighing 220 kilograms, was living. He was keeping them out of his lair.”

Artur Kurpin, representing the Kaliningrad city administration, assured that divers will conduct their activities so as not to disturb the giant catfish. The work, which began in June 2016, is expected to last until May 2017.

The pre-war bridge structure is undergoing repair and renovation for the upcoming 2018 World Cup. The bridge is one of the roads leading to October Island. This is where the stadium is being built, which will be one of the arenas where matches will be played during the upcoming World Cup.
