On 20-21 March 2015. The 3rd Maritime and River History Conference will be held in Gdańsk. The event is organised by the Scientific Circle of PhD Students of History and the Scientific Circle of Historians of the University of Gdansk. The conference is a continuation of the events held in 2011 and 2013, which featured over 70 speakers from across the country.
The theme of the conference is very broad and, as the portal informs wiekdwudziesty.plDuring the next edition of the conference the issues of maritime and river history will be discussed:
maritime policy,
economy (commercial shipping, passenger shipping, fishing, rafting),
military (armed conflicts in the waters, navies, aviation and maritime landing craft),
shipbuilding (boatbuilding, shipbuilding, ships and vessels),
hydraulic engineering (ports, bridges),
discoveries and sea voyages,
underwater archaeology,
the culture and customs of “seafarers”,
maritime studies (the sea in literature and art)
Moreover, if you feel up to it and have an interesting topic you would like to present at the conference, nothing stands in the way!
“For those interested in attending the conference, please send completed forms (including abstract, sources and bibliography) to morskarzeczna@gmail.com no later than January 15, 2015″
Those wishing to participate with their presentations will be informed of the result of their qualification by 10 February.
“The session will take place at the Faculty of History of the University of Gdansk (at 55 Wita Stwosza Street). We anticipate 15 to 20 minutes for each speech (the decision will depend on the number of accepted submissions). If you have any doubts about the scope of the topics, we encourage you to consult us in advance.
At the same time, we encourage you to publish your post-conference article in the third issue of Argumenta Historica, a peer-reviewed scientific and didactic journal published annually by the University of Gdansk in cooperation with the members of the UG History PhD Students’ Club.”
