Next month Hydropolis will open in Wrocław. A wonderful and unique object, which is to be a modern centre of all knowledge about water. According to the information which has been made available, it will also be the only facility of its kind in Poland and one of very few in the world.
The facility is located in a historic building on Na Grobli Street. It houses a clean water reservoir dating from 1893, which will now have a new function and new life, serving residents for many years to come.
The creators of the facility are counting on huge interest from all residents, regardless of their age. For this purpose many multimedia forms of presenting exhibits and educating visitors were used. Visitors to Hydropolis will learn about the history of the birth of the Earth, water and life in the oceans.
“We believe that the facility, located in the heart of Wrocław, will become a new, extraordinary showpiece of the city and the region. Right now we are putting the finishing touches to the building, checking the functioning of all the equipment and installing the last installations and exhibits. Those interested in visiting Hydropolis before the official opening will be able to obtain passes as part of competitions organised by the local media. As a result, on 13-15 November over 1600 people will visit the knowledge centre. It will also be a dress rehearsal before the final opening of the facility”. – explains Zdzisław Olejczyk, President of MPWiK, the company responsible for the investment.
The total area dedicated to Hydropolis is over 4000 m², where 64 interactive installations have been distributed, thanks to which visitors will be able to learn a range of interesting information. The most interesting installations include, among others, a 305 m long water path, a 360º screen with a circumference of 65 m, a replica of the bathyscaph “Trieste (the first descent to the bottom of the Mariana Trench) in 1:1 scale, 45 popular science articles created as part of Hydropedia, or a virtual school of 1,500 fish in the “Ocean of Life” zone, which will be hunted by a tiger shark.
