English Heritage, an institution dedicated to the study, classification and preservation of submerged vessels, has published and made available a guide to these vessels. It divides the sites into several periods: early prehistory 500,000-4000 BC, late prehistory 4000-54 BC, Roman period 54 BC. – 410 AD, Post Roman period 410-1066 AD, Medieval to early Tudor period 1066-1540 AD, Tudor period 1540-1603 AD, Stuart period 1603-1714 AD. And Hanoverian 1714-1837.

The whole book can be downloaded at PDF file here. This excellent study is undoubtedly a real treat for those involved in and interested in wreck diving, maritime history and above all – underwater archaeology.

In addition to detailed descriptions, there are also many figures and photographs. However, if we decide that the collected information is not enough for us, we can go through the sizeable bibliography and follow it up by looking for books or using the provided links to websites.
