The lifeguards spotted the fish during one of their routine patrols. The fish was so big that at first they thought it was a human corpse floating on the water! The whole incident took place at the height of the popular “Pomost 511” club, reports wawalove.pl
Spooked by the shape resembling a human body, the rescuers intervened immediately. It was only when they got a few metres closer that they realised it was not a human being, but a fish of monstrous size. After closer inspection, they were able to establish that it was a colossal catfish. According to the rescuers, the giant from the Vistula River probably died of old age.
We fished a 2.27m long dead catfish out of the #Vistula on Sunday. The fish could have lived 50-60 years, so it could remember the opening of the Łazienkowski Bridge pic.twitter.com/UuMWWLOOPr

It is a great pity that such an unusual sight was hidden all its life in a place where no diver could see it. In many waters it would probably be quite an attraction, like a freshwater whale shark!
