Yesterday, October 12, in the late evening hours, information about the closure of the wreck of the oil tanker “Franken” to divers was sent out by fax to individual harbour masters. No details about the specific reasons for this decision are yet available.

As we, DIVERS24, have been involved in the activities carried out by the MARE Foundation, we will contact the Maritime Authority on Monday and try to find out what prompted the officials to take such a decision. We will inform you about everything in our pages.

We have already informed you about the wreck of T/S “Franken” and the threat it poses due to the huge fuel load it contains. In recent months, thanks to the activities of the MARE Foundation, the matter has become very media-oriented and many people have become involved in it.

All activities, however, seemed to be carried out in agreement and with the common belief of all parties that leaving the wreck accessible to divers is an undoubted advantage and the possibility of constant and systematic control over the wreck.

As it turns out, in the end the officials took an incomprehensible decision that, at first sight, defies logic and pragmatism.
