The 13th edition of Expedition Bjurälven has begun. The project brings together advanced technical divers, who together in an international team explore and document an unusual cave in the northern Swedish mountains of Jämtland.

As every year, the participants first had to deal with the weather, which in this region changes extremely quickly and can severely complicate the work. The first day of this year’s expedition was not ideal, but we managed to set up camp and prepare everything for diving in the following days.

Expedition Bjurälven 2019 – Day 2Oursecond day was perfect! The weather was sunny and not windy. Since we didn’t finish the rigging of the camp on day 1, we still had some things left to do. The “rookies” managed to get in the water and do a dive in Dolinsjön. Two teams did some dives in Köldhålet. The water is 1°C and we hope the weather will stay as good as it was today!

On the other hand, the second day of the expedition welcomed all participants with beautiful weather, sunny and without wind. Thanks to this it was possible to catch up with the weather. The water temperature is 1°C. The new participants made their first acclimatisation dives at the site known as Dolinsjön, while the seasoned full-time explorers, divided into two teams, dived in Köldhålet.

We can only wait to see what the next few days of exploring this extraordinary place will bring.
