In many respects, 2018 will certainly be an exceptional and groundbreaking year. It will bring many surprises and, on various levels, will allow us to reach places that have not been accessible until recently. It will be no different in wreck climates. It is in this year that the first commercial trips to one of the most famous shipwrecks in the history of mankind – the RMS “Titanic” – will begin.

So if you are looking for a unique and spectacular way to spend your time and just so happen to have a “loose” $130,000, this is something for you! In June, the first manned expedition in 13 years will set off to the wreck of the “Titanic”. The organiser is still accepting applications from people who want to take part in this venture, so you still have time.

[blockquote style=”2″]”It’s certainly not an adventure for everyone, but the demands on the body are certainly much less than the high altitude climbing or week-long bike ride through the Alps that some of our participants have experienced.” – said Stockton Rush, CEO of OceanGate Inc[/blockquote].

The uniqueness and attractiveness of the offered expedition to the wreck of the legendary liner is undeniable. After the sinking, the “Titanic” resting at a depth of 3,800 metres was seen by fewer people than were in space.

Each participant in this extraordinary expedition, will have the opportunity to make a minimum of one descent to the wreck, in a five-person unit, and explore for approximately 6 to 9 hours what remains of the ship.

[blockquote style=”2″]”Among our group are mountaineers, there are people who have climbed the poles. The participants come from all over the world. The group is diverse, also in age from 23 to 75, but surely what unites them all is the thirst for adventure. Our oldest participant is quite old, but he proved to us that he is prepared to make such a journey. All participants had to undergo training to prove they met certain conditions.” – Rush explains[/blockquote].

From the information available, there are 3 places left for the 2018 expedition, but not to worry as there are still 18 places available for 2019. The organisers are planning similar expeditions for future years.

Enabling “civilians” to reach and see the wreck, however, is not a goal in itself. The funds raised are to allow the study of the wreck, or the creation of its extremely accurate virtual model in 3D technology. Everything to be able to determine the degree and time in which changes are taking place and the destruction of the “Titanic”.

[blockquote style=”2″]”I make no secret of the fact that we want to draw the world’s attention, to all the wonderful things under the water that are worth investigating and saving to the extent possible,” Stockton Rush stressed.”[/blockquote]
