The DAN Oxygen Provider course will not improve our diving skills, but it will certainly make us a better diver. With the knowledge and skills acquired during the training, we will be able to recognize danger more effectively and faster, and also to counteract it. First, however, a few words about DAN itself and its assumptions.

DAN (Divers Alert Network) – is a non-profit, non-commercial organisation that exists to provide competent information and advice, consistent with current medical literature. Its activities also focus on preventing diving accidents and providing the most effective assistance possible when they occur.

After completing the DAN Oxygn Provider course, you will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of diving illnesses and injuries. With the acquired theoretical and practical knowledge, we will learn how to identify potential risks, but also how to properly and effectively provide appropriate assistance to victims. This is extremely important, because very often serious health complications occur as a result of incompetent assistance, or due to a simple lack of knowledge. We will also learn about the benefits of oxygen, how it affects our bodies and why it is so important to have a suitable oxygen kit near the dive site. During the course, we will get acquainted with the contents of such a kit, its operation and we will learn how to use it effectively, and after providing assistance, how to secure and prepare the kit for re-use.

I recommend the course to everyone, who takes an active or passive part in diving. Both we, our partner, or the person remaining on the shore, will feel more confident and calm, knowing that in case of danger, we will be able to take appropriate steps. The right and immediate reaction in an emergency situation can often prevent the loss of health, and in extreme cases, life!
