On foreign news portals we can find information that the recently awarded Leonardo DiCaprio experienced a real moment of terror and almost lost his life while diving in the Galapagos Islands. His colleague Edward Norton came to the rescue of the winner of this year’s Academy Award and it ended only with a solid portion of fear.

The situation recalled by the media was described by the actor in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine and took place on January 12, 2016, while diving for a documentary on global climate change. DiCaprio is very active in the field of protecting endangered species and stopping the changes affecting the Earth’s climate, which he actually alluded to in his speech during the Academy Award statuette presentation.

During the fateful dive, everything went smoothly until the moment when the star’s diving cylinder mysteriously and indescribably failed. As the interested party himself reports, the sudden cut off from the breathing mixture caused a real panic attack, which he managed to control only when Edward Norton came to his aid. Then everything went smoothly and according to established procedure. Sharing the air from Norton’s cylinder, the men calmly carried out an emergency ascent, thus averting the resulting crisis.

What is interesting, this was not the first underwater situation where Leonardo DiCaprio experienced real moments of terror. Some time ago, while diving with sharks in South African waters, he was attacked by a white shark. Fortunately, the shark did not harm the actor.

This film about climate change does not yet have a title, but we know that it is being directed by Fisher Stevens. The production is intended to show the changes taking place in the environment as a result of these changes on Earth.
