On October 8, divers from the Tricity met once again to clean the underwater part of Gdynia Marina. This year, the cleaning included also the swimming pool at the Presidential Quay and the area along the Seaside Boulevard.

As in previous years, the divers did not disappoint. Over 120 volunteers signed up for the campaign. In designated sectors, entries into the water were made from the shore or from boats. Everything under the watchful eye of chronometrists, paramedics and WOPR lifeguards. Support was also provided by the police and the Maritime Office. The entire event was protected by an ambulance.

The result – over two tonnes of rubbish was pulled out of the water!!! This time among the things fished out were: tyres, bottles, metal bins, a bicycle, a skateboard, a huge flower pot, a mobile phone, an ID card and a watch.

After the dive, participants enjoyed a hot meal, delicious coffee served by one of the sponsors (Ipanema Café) and energy drinks from Blow. Santi, Bare, Mares, Aqua Lung and Gralmarine diving companies made their equipment available for testing.

The ACmotors company made the event more attractive by presenting motorbikes of the Ducati, Triumph and Honda brands. GOSiR, in turn, organised a children’s fair with games and prizes.

The Gralmarine also provided an underwater vehicle whose main function was to film, but those wishing could also operate it. The effect was visible on a monitor installed on the quay.

As every year, at the end of the event, a prize draw was held. Among the prizes were: scuba diving machine, diving computer, ABC kits, torches, Nautica watch, vouchers for training and cylinder loading, diving package in Croatia, weekend at the Zdrojowy Hotel, stay at the Hańcza Inn, Brubeck underwear and many others.

Eco Diving Day, was noticed by the media, including TVN, TVN24, TVP, Radio: Gdansk, Zet, RMF . We are glad that the divers’ efforts did not go unnoticed, and the whole action is gaining more and more supporters.

Thanks again to the divers, ground staff and sponsors for their support. See you next year.
