The documentary film “Drain the Oceans – The Amber Room” with the participation of the Baltictech diving group received a gold award at New York Festivals 2023.

The film made with the participation of a group of Polish technical divers from Baltictech group was acknowledged by the jury and awarded the main prize in the History & Society – Documentary category.

The episode featuring Baltictech divers opened the fifth season of the Drain the Oceans series, which brings wrecks to life from a completely new perspective. Among other things, this fact clearly showed how important the story of the German steamer SS Karlsruhe wreck found by Baltictech was to the producers.

Experienced filmmakers from National Geographic probably saw the potential of the whole project, and as you can see, they were not wrong. The award won at the New York Festivals 2023 is only confirmation of the above.

Gold Award

The discovery of the wreck of the SS Karlsruhe itself caused a sensation and very high interest not only among divers. Eventually, the affair grew to unprecedented proportions and culminated in the largest wreck expedition in the country’s history.

The story of the finding and subsequent exploration of the steamer was widely reported on our portal and in the pages of DIVERS24 magazine. If you feel that the latest episode of Drain the Oceans did not exhaust the topic, we encourage you to read our archived materials. In addition to plenty of first-hand information, you will also find many photos documenting the condition of the wreck.

However, is the SS Karlsruhe wreck case really over for good? We are still waiting to know the answer to that question….
