The inextricable link between man and water is something that everyone is aware of. However, how many people have knowledge of how deep the seas and oceans are?

We all know very well that water is the basis and inseparable element of life on earth. It also has something about it that is sometimes difficult to capture and express in words. Nevertheless, most people feel good when they are in a large body of water, such as lakes, seas and oceans. Water is calming, thought-provoking and a pleasure to be in contact with.

Comparison of depths of bodies of water on Earth In addition, we – divers, we have the unquestionable pleasure and privilege to learn and explore underwater world. At least the small part of it that is available to us. But do we realise how small a part of the whole it represents? Have you ever tried to relate the various depths to what you are dealing with on the surface?

Today, thanks to the work of Alvaro Garcia Montoya, creator of the youtube channel MetaBallStudios (MBS), you can look at the underwater world from a slightly different perspective. In his video, the author juxtaposes lakes, seas and oceans and presents their depths in an interesting way. In addition to the average and maximum depths of the individual bodies of water, he also adds references such as the tallest buildings in the world.

The entire film lasts just five minutes and is a journey well worth taking. Because through it, many people will certainly gain a new perspective on the underwater world. It is also a great opportunity to see and compare what depths can be found in various bodies of water on Earth.

How deep is the Baltic Sea? Which sea is the shallowest? How deep can a submarine go? Who was first man in the deepest place in the world? In which sea can Mount Everest be hidden? You can find the answers to these and many other questions in the accompanying video.
