The whole dive was carried out using a dive scooter. Without it, it would have been impossible to cover the distance of 55km in the cold and dark water. The strong currents in the area and the fact that this is a very busy shipping lane were an additional difficulty.

“Many divers have failed in their efforts to cover this distance. Our success today is proof that, however, difficult and gruelling challenges can and should be undertaken. A good support team and the right logistics were crucial in reaching our destination,” -said Schloeffel.

As the diver admitted, the visibility of about 1m was the biggest problem for him. Especially when you add to it the roar of engines from passing vessels in the vicinity. In such conditions, it was incredibly difficult to maintain concentration, which was a key factor during the dive.
