Local media reported an incident which occurred near a holiday resort in Skorzęcin in Wielkopolskie voivodeship. On Monday morning, in the waters of Lake Niędziegiel, a diving accident occurred there.

On Monday, April 5, just after 1 p.m. emergency services were called to an accident involving a diver. The incident took place in the waters of Lake Niędziegiel, near the popular holiday resort in Skorzęcin.

According to unofficial information available, several people were diving near the main beach. Unfortunately, as one of the dive participants did not surface, the other dive participants immediately notified the emergency services.

After receiving information that a diving accident had occurred in the waters of Lake Niedzięgiel, the following teams were sent to the site Fire Brigade from OSP Skorzęcin, OSP Witkowo and JRG Gniezno. While firefighters arrived at the Niedzięgiel Lake with their boats to carry out activities on the water, specialist water and diving rescue teams from Poznan and Mosina started their underwater search.

At around 15:00, the body of a wanted diver was found a few dozen metres from the shore. Although resuscitation efforts were launched after the victim was taken ashore, it took an hour before vital functions were restored.

Finally, the victim of the accident was taken away in a serious condition by an air ambulance from Bydgoszcz. The police are now seeking to clarify the exact course and circumstances of the incident.
