This coming Saturday, 4 November, the thirteenth edition of the worldwide Diversnight event will take place! As every year, on the first Saturday of November, divers scattered in different parts of the world will join forces to perform a night dive!

If you feel like joining in the fun, it’s no easier! At homepage Diversnight, you will find a search engine for sites taking part in this event. Just enter the name of the location you are interested in and it will show you who and where is going to carry out a night dive on 4 November.

It is interesting to note that the time of the dive changes every year. In 2016 it was 8.16 p.m., while this year it will be 8.17 p.m. So the organisers have made sure that for the next few centuries, tradition can be preserved…

In addition to diving together and having fun, the aim will also be to try and beat last year’s result, which unfortunately was much weaker than those achieved in previous editions. In 2016, 1140 divers from 23 countries took part in Diversnight. In turn, analogously in previous editions it was:

  • 2015 – 1734, 140 dive sites in 23 countries
  • 2014 – 1763, 167 dive sites in 22 countries
  • 2013 – 2113, 167 dive sites in 20 countries
  • 2012 – 2322, 231 dive sites in 25 countries
  • 2011 – 2577, 196 dive sites in 24 countries
  • 2010 – 1700, 175 dive sites in 22 countries
  • 2009 – 2749, 218 dive sites in 20 countries
  • 2008 – 2183, 12 countries
  • 2007 – 1859, 6 countries
  • 2006 – 889, Norway, Denmark and Sweden
  • 2005 – 351, Norway only

As you can see, the tradition is beautiful and there is a lot to look forward to. Let’s hope that the weather conditions will not spoil the diver’s plans and we will again be able to achieve a beautiful number of participants!
