Diver and Scuba Diver’s Day – a new holiday in Poland?

Will the Polish diving community live to see its own holiday soon? There are many indications! CMAS Diving Commission announced on its social media profile that together with the National Defence League has applied to the Polish authorities for the establishment of a new holiday – Day of a diver and scuba diver of the Republic of Poland.

The idea is interesting and when you think about it, it’s a bit strange that such a numerous group as Polish divers doesn’t have its own official holiday. Especially if we add that the history of Polish diving is already over 100 years old. Maybe we should finally change this state of affairs? The representatives of LOK CMAS Diving Commission came up with such an initiative.

I hope that the idea will gain enough supporters and, with the right backing, will be positively considered by the relevant authorities. The new holiday would be a great opportunity to go out with diving to the people. To show, but also nurture the diving history and rich tradition, as well as to attract new adepts, in whom the love for the depths would be instilled.

In the past I have had the pleasure of participating in the celebration of the “Day of Aquarius”, which is the very day of divers and scuba divers in Russia. The celebration, to which we were invited by the World Ocean Museum in Kaliningrad, was a great opportunity to promote diving and a very nice time spent.

Who knows? Maybe the next diving holiday we will all be able to celebrate already in Poland?
