It was worth waiting as long as 35 years to participate in the first meeting in Poland with Irena Kosowska – Gilwatowska, Coordinator of DAN Poland. The theme of the meeting series, which had its inauguration last Tuesday, 27 March 2018, is the basic and overriding principle – Dive Safely!

Irena’s interesting and entertaining lecture was met with a great response and questions which provoked an edifying and constructive polemic. It is always nice when professionally prepared material hits such a good ground and contributes to the discussion.

An analysis of diving accidents over the years, carried out by DAN on a group of almost a thousand cases, has produced concrete results. These have been presented to us and their analysis clearly shows how many of these incidents could have been avoided if not for the human factor.

Dive safely and responsibly, do not exceed your depth limits and dive conservatively according to your plan. Check each other before entering the water and check the gas level in the cylinder. Do not fall into a routine.

Let us also carry out maintenance on our equipment, in line with manufacturers’ recommendations. Our lives depend on it, and it is the most precious thing we have.
