Archaeological research is still underway in the sunken city near the Croatian town of Zadar. In the course of the work carried out, it has been established, among other things, that the initially assumed age of the find, 2500 years, is greatly underestimated. As a result of subsequent activities it turned out that the documented objects are even up to 3500 years old!

Last year, researchers from Zadar found in the waters of the Adriatic Sea, between the islands of Ričula and Galešnjak, the remains of a large sunken settlement and port, tentatively estimated to be 2,500 years old.

New light was shed on the entire find by research carried out in early October 2015. Although the planned work was mapped along the Turnaj coast, in the meantime the results of the wooden pillar samples from the previous year arrived from the USA, where an attempt was made to determine their age using the radiocarbon method.

Everyone was surprised when it turned out that the actual age of the objects differed from the assumed age by 1000 years and thus they were not constructed by the Liburnians. This turn of events completely changed the perception of the site and its scientific value.
