The local police immediately launched a search for the missing diver, but due to the late hour, work was stopped at around 00.30 a.m. The search resumed on the morning of 17 September. A short time later it was reported that the body of the wanted diver had been found.

The other diver testified that his partner may have had equipment problems. In turn, police reported that the victim extracted from the water was not wearing a wetsuit or dry suit, but only shorts and a t-shirt.

An investigation into the circumstances of the whole incident is ongoing.
