Archaeology: Just Add Water – New!

The field season of the underwater archaeologist lasts all year round, but it is worth reminding that diving is not everything! October saw the start of a new academic year, and with it a new publication from the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw, the first monograph in the new series of the “Światowit” magazine.

“Archaeology: Just Add Water. Underwater Research at the University of Warsaw”, published entirely in English, contains articles on recent underwater research in Poland and Europe. We will also read here an extensive history of underwater archaeology at the University of Warsaw. The volume can be downloaded from this website.

The publication also includes articles by distinguished guests of the 2nd Warsaw Seminar on Underwater Archaeology, an international conference held in January 2017. The third edition of the meeting, planned for early next year (17 – 18 January 2019), will be even more spectacular – researchers from Poland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Taiwan, Italy, Senegal, Israel, Ukraine and Guatemala have already confirmed their participation. You can read more about the conference at website.

Non-academics are also welcome to attend the conference. We will provide all the necessary information by e-mail: underwaterexpedition@uw.edu.pl.

“3rd WarsawSeminar on UnderwaterArchaeology”-a task financed within the framework of the agreement no. 959/P-DUN/2018/P-DUN/2018 from the funds of the Minister of Science and Higher Education allocated for science dissemination activities”. The conference was held under the patronage of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Marcin Pałys.
