For here is the Oceanic+ application announced at the launch of the smartwatch. It is the aforementioned software that is expected to make the device an even more valuable companion for any diver.

We all remember very well what a stir the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra caused in September. An avalanche of comments, memes and a very lively discussion, accompanied us for the following weeks, willy-nilly making a great promotion for the new Apple device.

Eventually, the matter naturally spread to the bones and the situation returned to normal. Some people forgot about the dive smartwatch, while others started using it. The world has moved on and too much has not changed. Now, however, it’s time for the next installment of the show, as we lived to see the release of the Oceanic+ app.

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+

The software is expected to make the Apple Watch gain further functionality and become even more… a dive computer?

From what we know at this point, the Oceanic+ app for the Apple Watch Ultra and the iPhone app are expected to jointly provide all the key dive computer functions that a recreational diver might need.

One of our first goals was to keep things intuitive. People who know how to use the Apple Watch Ultra already know how to use this dive computer because it communicates things to them in a simple format they can understand. The navigation menu is simple – by scrolling through it with the Digital Crown and using the Action button, you can navigate and use all the functions of the dive computer while diving said Mike Huish, CEO of Huish Outdoors.

A new app from Oceanic makes it easier to plan a dive and track prevailing conditions and dive progress. Users can set depth and gas, among other things. As I mentioned, this is a device dedicated to recreational divers, so the depth limit is 40 meters. For gas, on the other hand, we can choose between air or nitrox.

Users of Apple devices know very well that nothing is free in this world. Well, almost… The basic plan is free and allows you to use features such as depth, dive time and a truncated logbook. Wanting access to more advanced features and the full logbook, we have to pay $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year. The app is also available through Family Sharing for $129 per year and gives access for up to 5 users.

A full-face mask is an increasingly popular piece of diving equipment among recreational divers. Therefore, we decided to take a look at what characterizes it and what is worth knowing about it. You will learn more from the text, which we published in the 18th issue. DIVERS24 quarterly! The digital version of the magazine is available free of charge, while you can purchase the printed version in our online store.
