Listen to this article

A group of Polish divers are carrying out an unusual project called “300 km underwater to overcome adversity”. The aim is to set a Guinness record for the distance travelled underwater using a DPV scooter, but above all to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and to raise funds for a charity.

[blockquote style=”1″]”Our goal is to swim about 300 kilometres underwater using DPV scooters, at a depth of about 5-20 metres. All along the coast of Croatia. We assume that the project will be completed within one month, swimming 15-20 km per day. The project is a real logistical and organisational challenge. Thanks to the support of many sponsors and friends from Europe and Egypt, we have already managed to organise most of the necessary equipment (DPV, cylinders, wetsuits, harnesses, gases and a logistics centre in Croatia), as well as the technical facilities to make the challenge possible. True adventure comes from passion, we are the best example of this. For many years we have been exploring the beauty of the underwater world sharing our great experiences with the people around us. We decided to take on the pioneering challenge of swimming 300 km underwater. We have chosen the Croatian coast as the location for our project. We also want our challenge to help Miłosz who cannot enjoy the freedom of movement due to his illness.”[/blockquote]
