Albert Falco was one of those who accompanied the French pioneer in deep-sea exploration for the longest time. He joined the team in 1952. First as chief diver and then captain of the research vessel Calypso, he spent four decades making history and exploring the wonderful world of the deep sea.

Born on 17 October 1927 in Marseille. In Marseilles, he was involved with water all his life. He took his first steps in swimming, sailing and diving together with his father. As he himself recalled, they often went out into the surrounding turquoise bays to discover their secrets.

“Since then, water has become a natural part of my life,” Falco stressed in his memoirs.

Over the years, there have been few places and creatures that Albert Falco has not encountered. He was particularly fond of dealing with sharks, which he described as his best friends.

When he left the Calypso after 37 years, he did not stop his underwater activities, until the end of his days being an ambassador of the underwater world.
