Action to find the "Eagle"

A fanpage of an interesting action has appeared on the Internet, the aim of which is to find a legendary unit of the Second Republic of Poland – ORP Orzeł. The Polish submarine, built in 1938, became famous for its daring escape from the port in Tallinn, where it was interned. In late spring 1940. “Orzeł” went on another patrol in the North Sea. Unfortunately, she never called at any other port.

The creators of the website are devoting their efforts to the goal of finding the pride of the Polish Navy. The whole project is a continuation of the search which was already conducted in the North Sea in 2008.

In the information about the activities of the organisers of the action, we can read”

“The Maritime Exploration Agency Association was founded in 2006 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to conducting wreck searches, archiving and organising underwater research.

In 2008 MAP was the initiator and organiser of the “BalexMetal Eagle Expedition” a search operation in the North Sea aimed at locating the wreck of the ORP “Eagle” submarine lost in unexplained circumstances in the North Sea in 1940.”
