In recent days, a video from a dive during which a man disentangled the largest fish in the world – the magnificent creature that is the whale shark – from its net has hit the web. The majestic giant would probably have had a lot of trouble if not for the right reaction of a random diver.

The incident took place near Socorro Island, which is part of the Revillagigedo Archipelago, located about 200 miles off the coast of Mexico. It took very little effort to help the shark in distress and it was free after just 30 seconds. However, had it not been for human intervention, it could have ended much worse.

The video shows exactly how the line from the net cuts into and mutilates the body of the fish colossus. Despite the stress experienced by the animal, the shark had no objection to human assistance. The giant calmly waited for the diver to do his job, as if he instinctively sensed that it was all for his own good.

A piece of fishing net must have been stuck in the shark’s body for a very long time. The attached video shows the marks, which are probably the result of several years of “acquaintance” with the unwanted object. The moment of release probably brought a lot of joy to both the shark and the diving team that freed the giant from its suffering.
