And although this year the official diving site was the VIP Divers base on Lake Insko, there were many other diving sites and centres from which we entered the water, as long and wide as Poland.

And in Ińsk, where the organisers – Marlena and Krzysztof Zasadzki of Vip Divers and Irena Gilwatowska of Nitroz Divers – invited us, it was very nice.

The water temperature was 8ºC and visibility a decent 6-8 metres despite the rain. Divers were accompanied by non-swimmers and after leaving the water the organisers provided drinks, sausages and homemade cake.

To find out how many divers around the world dived at exactly 8:16pm on 5 November and whether last year’s record was broken, you will have to follow diversnight.com The results are still coming in, but we still know that the number will be very low, as not everyone was able to officially register and often dived in familiar places.

An interesting initiative, enjoying more participation every year. And already in 2017 we will enter the water at 20:17, book your date!
