10th Polish Winter Rafting on the Obra River

Nadobrzański Klub Płetwonków “Obra” in Skwierzyna is organising on 22 February 2014 already the 10th and thus jubilee All-Polish Winter Rafting on the Obra River for the title of “Oberstrong”.

It is a cyclical sports and recreational event. The aim of the rally is to swim down a designated section of the Obra River. The participants may (but do not have to) wear wetsuits only. Seemingly nothing difficult… but if it is accompanied by negative air temperature, ice floes, swift current of the winding river, lots of heaps of trees blocking the crossing, then the participant really has to face his physical and mental weaknesses.

The length of the crossing is approximately 8km. It doesn’t matter whether the participant finishes first or last. It is enough if the participant finishes at all, and then he or she certainly deserves the title of Oberstrong, and every Oberstrong, of course, is awarded with a beautiful certificate confirming the completion of the designated section of the river.

Of course, you will not miss the most important thing – safety. The entire canoeing route is protected by many rescue boats, and there is always a team of people on the bank, also taking care of safety.

After the rafting trip, it would be good to gain some energy before the feast that awaits… To this end, we prepared a regeneration meal and then lunch during the certificate ceremony and prize draw.

This year’s feast (until the morning) will take place at the newly opened Bocianie Gniazdo restaurant in Skwierzyna.

Framework programme of the event:
Saturday 22 February 2014.

9.00 – assembly at the Chrobry Inn (road bridge over the Obra River)
9.30 – 10.00 am – transport of participants to the starting point (glade near the bunkers)
10.00 – 10.30 – registration on the list and signing original canoeing applications – issuing start numbers
10.30 – 11.30 – preparation for canoeing rally
11.30 – Start – beginning of canoeing rally
14.00 – planned finish of the canoeing rally (the finish line at the road bridge), a champagne toast, warm regeneration meal
15.00 – planned return to the Bocianie Gniazdo premises in Nad Obrą Street
15.30 – dinner
16.30 – 17.30 – presentation of certificates, T-shirts and prize draw
17.30 – end of the canoeing rally and beginning of the feast
